Elder person encourages to get grand for PDM

The State Minister for older persons Hon Gidudu Dominic Mafabi has encouraged older persons to enrolled for Parish Development Model PDM and other government programs for improved livelihoods.

He noted that the government has introduced other programs like the Social Assistance Grant for Empowerment – SAGE to help older persons with medical services, airtime and transportation among others services.

Minister implored older persons who are often neglected by the children and spouses to enroll for PDM and venture into profitable ventures like livestock farming. This he said will make them less of a burden.

Meanwhile, Hon Akumu Catherine Mavenjira, the Member of Parliament representing older persons from Northern Uganda urged Kitgum district local government to allow the elderly participate in government programs.

She also appealed to the community to respect the older persons and look after them so that they do not suffer and die miserably.
