Mucwini GISO, LC3 chairperson granted bail

The GISO and LCIII chairperson of Mucwini Sub-County in Kitgum district were on Tuesday morning granted cash bails by His Lordship Nashiero Mwandha Robert Ekirita, the Kitgum Chief Magistrate.

The pair together with four UPDF soldiers appeared on a video that went viral on social media while torturing a one Nelson Omon, suspected motorcycle thief on 10th December 2023 in Lagot, Mucwini sub-county,

Mr. Obonyo Simon Okuri, the GISO of Mucwini sub-county who was remanded to Kitgum government prison in December last year on two charges of robbery and torture was granted a cash bail of Shs3 million while the LCIII Chairperson, Mr. Christopher Ongee who was charged with inciting violence was given a cash bail of Shs2 million

Their sureties were given non cash bail of Shs10 million and Shs7 million respectively. The due and the suspect will report back to court 27th Feb 2024 for further hearing.
