Lamwo district speaker, 2 others denied bail

The Lamwo district speaker Hon Ochola James, the female councilor for Palabek Aber and Palabek Geme sub-counties, Hon Joyce Oyella and an activist Mr. Anywar Fred alias Kajik who were last Wednesday remanded to Kitgum government prison have been Denied Bail by Chief Magistrate His Lordship Nashiero Mwandha Robert Ekirit

The trio is being held for inciting violence and other four counts they allegedly committed during the eviction of Balalo in Lamwo district last year.

While presenting the bail application on Tuesday, 16^th January, 2024, Defense Lawyer, counsel Tonny Kitara argued that bail is a right for the accused adding that they had presented all the requirements for the bail including substantial sureties.

The Chief Magistrate, Robert Ekirita however denied the trio bail and remanded them to Kitgum government prison until Monday January 22^nd 2024, when the bail application will be heard by the court.
