Aspiring village chairpersons race against time as campaigns near conclusion

The incumbent LC1 chairperson for Kateirwe village in Kateirwe parish Ruyonza sub county Kyegegwa district, Mr Nsegumire Moses, has grounded his campaigns on fight against poverty, as he seeks re-election in July 28 village elections.
Nsegumire, who is the National Resistance Movement (NRM) party flagbearer, held his last rally on Sunday July 26, 2026, where he urged voters to rally behind him, saying that he still has a lot of initiatives to lobby for them once he retains the seat.
The aspiring village chairperson acknowledged that despite the government’s commitment to eradicate poverty through programs like Parish Development Model (PDM), some residents still lack financial discipline.
He vowed to invite experts who will be meeting residents to enlighten them how to choose enterprises that fit in the marked, and train them on modern farming methods that will improve their yields.
He warned residents against tribalism, urging that the election should be based on the capability of a candidate to perform on a given position.
Cue… Nsegumire on re-election
Nsegumire is contesting against an independent candidate Mr. Keneth Banchwanira who is also expected to hold his last campaign rally on Monday July 27, 2026.
Furthermore, Mr. Tumuhirwe R. Claudio, the NRM flag bearer for LC1 Kijongobya village in Kijongobya parish Ruyonza sub county Kyegegwa district, has hailed the party leadership for mobilising for its flag bearers, and expressed optimism that he is the best candidate to retain the seat.

According to the electoral roadmap, campaigns for aspiring village chairpersons which started 20th July, will conclude on 27th July at the eve of the voting day on Tuesday July 28, 2026 across all villages in Uganda.
