The Community Empowerment Network (TCEN) Uganda, a non-governmental organisation, has encouraged school children to take part in environmental restoration through tree planting, in a bid to mitigate climate change.
The message was delivered by the Chief Executive Officer of The Community Empowerment Network (TCEN) Uganda, Sunday Medard, on Saturday, 25 April 2026, during the launch of tree planting and nursery bed preparation at Bugido Integrated Nursery and Primary School, located in Mpara Town Council, Kyegegwa District.
For his part, Mwesigwa Simon Solon, the Programmes Lead at the Community Empowerment Network, said they are targeting to plant over 1,000 trees in different institutions every year.

Tumusiime Muzamil, the School Director of Bugido Integrated Nursery and Primary School, commended TCEN for its initiative in restoring the environment.
Meanwhile, some learners from the Bugido Integrated Environmental Club, who were elected to leadership positions, welcomed TCEN’s initiative at their school.
