Beneficiaries of government livelihood programmes in Kyegegwa District say the initiatives are improving their household incomes and social wellbeing.
The beneficiaries are among those benefiting from the Emyooga programme, the Youth Livelihood Programme (YLP), the Parish Development Model (PDM) and the Uganda Women Entrepreneurship Programme (UWEP).
This was revealed on Thursday, October 22, 2026, during a monitoring exercise conducted by Mishac Kawamara, the Senior Presidential Advisor in charge of Mobilisation in the Tooro-Rwenzori Sub-region.
Among the beneficiaries visited was the Kyabulikarara Women Bull Fattening Group in Mpara Ward, Mpara Town Council. The group, which comprises five members, received Shs12.4 million under UWEP in 2020.
According to the group secretary, Evelyn Atuhaire, the funds have enabled the members to grow their enterprise and accumulate savings of more than Shs30 million.

Another beneficiary is 34-year-old Denis Mushabe, a resident of Kakooni B Village, Kabulikuya Parish, Nkaja Sub-county, who benefited from the Parish Development Model in 2023.
Mushabe said he received Shs1 million under the programme, which he supplemented with Shs500,000 of his own savings to purchase a heifer.
He said the investment had enabled him to expand his herd to four cattle and begin earning income from dairy farming.
Mushabe currently produces 17 litres of milk daily, selling each litre at Shs1,000.
Speaking to journalists after the monitoring exercise, Kawamara said the campaign was aimed at showcasing the achievements of government livelihood programmes and encouraging the public to appreciate their impact on beneficiaries.
He urged journalists and other leaders to publicise the programmes to raise awareness and encourage more people to take advantage of the available opportunities.
Kawamara also called on agricultural and other relevant extension workers in the district to regularly visit programme beneficiaries and provide technical guidance to improve their enterprises and ensure the sustainability of their investments.
