Man loses life in an overnight violence in Kijongobya Kyegegwa district

Police in Kyegegwa district are investigating circumstances surrounding death of a man who lost life in a midnight tiff in Ntungamo treading centre Katete cell Kijongobya parish in Ruyonza sub county.

The incident happened at around midnight on Wednesday 24 June, 2026. The deceased was identified by the eye witnesses, as Tuesday Francis, a casual worker in the area, who was allegedly hit by one identified as Karamagi, resident of the same address.

According to Bujejeri Filmon, the chairperson LC1 for Katete cell, it was around 2am when he received a phone call from one resident, informing him of the tragedy. He said that the suspect was at a time involved in fighting with a different group of youths; mistaking Tuesday Francis as one of them, the suspect used a rod to hit him on the head killing him instantly.

Mrs. Sarah Kigozi the female councilor for Kijongobya parish, noted that the exact cause of the fight was unknown, saying after receiving the information, she notified police at Kijongobya police post who informed detectives from Kyegegwa central police station.

Mrs Kigozi attributed the incident to drug abuse, urging that had it not been drunkeredness, the tragedy would have been avoided. She urged residents, particularly youth, to avoid night clubbing saying it is the major threat to security in the area.

By the press time, one suspect, Mr. Karamagi, was arrested to help in further investigation. The body of the deceased was taken to Kyegegwa general hospital for postmortem examination.
