Four people have been killed in two separate attacks by unknown assailants in Nkanja Sub-county, Kyegegwa District, while several others were left critically injured.

The first attack occurred at about 2:30 a.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2026, in Kikumbwe LCI, Kyamagabo Parish, Nkanja Sub-county.

Muhereza Gabriel says armed thugs attacked his family and killed his 16-year-old daughter, Tushabe Suzan, a Primary five learner at We Can Nursery and Primary School.

Muhereza says his wife, 37-year-old Kyalisiima Jacinta, and his children, 13-year-old Nuwampire Maria Gorret and 11-year-old Akampulira Gift, were also seriously injured and rushed to Bujubuli Health Centre IV.

Kyalisiima was later referred to Mubende Regional Referral Hospital for further treatment.

In a separate attack, the assailants reportedly invaded Karokarungi Village, also in Kyamagabo Parish, and killed three people.

Turyahabwe Alex, the Karokarungi LCI Chairperson, identified the deceased as Murungi Winnie, who was operating a bar, her young daughter, identified only as Miracle and believed to be under three years old, and Joan, a casual laborer.

The three bodies were discovered by residents on Thursday afternoon, locked inside the house.

The LCI chairpersons of Karokarungi and Kikumbwe, Turyahabwe Alex and Mugume Kasaija, respectively, have condemned the increasing cases of murder in the area.

Meanwhile, officers from Kyegegwa Central Police Station visited the two crime scenes.

Using a sniffer dog, police tracked a trail for about three kilometers from Karokarungi towards Bwiriza in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement, where some exhibits were recovered.

However, the suspected attacker had reportedly already fled the area.

Efforts to get an official statement from Police were fruitless by press time.
