Kamwenge PLU leaders launch endorsement of Gen Muhoozi for 2031 presidential bid

Leaders of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) in Kamwenge District have endorsed General Muhoozi Kainerugaba as their candidate for 2031 presidential election, and announced to collect over 5000 signatures in support of his bid.

The signing of endorsement book was launched in a function held at Kamwenge district headquarters on Monday 14 September, 2026, organized by the PLU leaders in partnership with some government stakeholders.

The pressure group which is closely aligned with the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), launched a mobilisation drive to collect endorsement signatures across all 146 districts of Uganda in support of General Muhoozi Keinerugaba, who is currently the Chief of Defense Forces.

Asiimwe Leo and Birungi Fai the district PLU coordinators in Kamwenge, said that they aim to collect over 5000 signatures across the district to confirm the endorsement.

Among others on the same function, was Kamwenge district resident commissioner, Africano Aharikundira, and Brig. Gen. (Rtd) Charles Kisembo, the former director at National Leadership Institute (NALI), who described the endorsement as part of a peaceful transition from the current NRM government to a new administration.
