Rwakyakibunya SACCO expands services in Biguli Town Council

The Biguli branch was officially launched on Saturday, 27 June 2026.

Rwakyakibunya SACCO has launched a new branch in Buguli Town Council, Kamwenge District, with the aim of extending financial services across the Rwenzori region and Uganda at large.

The Buguli branch, which is the second in Kamwenge District, was officially launched on Saturday, 27 June 2026, during a major function held at Omuka Owawe Resort in Buguli Town Council. The event attracted members of the community as well as religious and political leaders in various capacities.

The SACCO now has six branches across the country, with its main branch located in Kibito, Bunyangabu District. Other branches include Rwimi Branch in Rwimi Town Council, Bunyangabu District, and Kahungye Branch in Kahungye Town Council, Kamwenge District.

According to Mr Nicholas Amanyire, the General Manager of Rwakyakibunya SACCO, the institution has been in existence for 25 years and has played a significant role in promoting financial literacy among community members, particularly local residents, who he noted have traditionally been reluctant to embrace a saving culture.

Mr Emmanuel Arinaite, the SACCO Board Chairperson, said they have registered a positive response from residents, noting that about 100 new members have joined since Rwakyakibunya SACCO extended its services to Biguli Town Council two months ago.

Mr Arinaite added that the launch marks a major milestone, as it represents the SACCO’s sixth branch. He noted that the expansion aims to combat poverty among individuals and institutions in the Rwenzori region by promoting savings, conducting community sensitisation, and providing affordable loan services at favourable interest rates.

Mr Odeck Jimmy Mulokore, the Mayor of Biguli Town Council, was among the leaders who warmly welcomed Rwakyakibunya SACCO services in the area. Mr Mulokore described the development as a relief to the people of Biguli Town Council, adding that access to financial services is vital for the development of any region.
