Parents urged to value education of their children

The Deputy Attorney General of Uganda and Kyaka South Member of Parliament, Hon. Jackson Kafuuzi Karugaba, has called upon parents to value education if they want a better future for their children.

Hon. Kafuuzi made the remarks on Saturday, 03-10-2026, while meeting parents and students of Ruyonza Seed Secondary School in Ruyonza Sub-county, Kyegegwa district.

The abrupt meeting was held to discuss the future of learners at the school amid challenges surrounding PTA fees, which are affecting government schools across the country.

During the meeting, Hon Kafuuzi, cleared the salaries of non-government staff for the month of September worth Ugx 6.3 million to enable students to continue studying, pending a Cabinet resolution on Monday 05th 10 2026, regarding the education situation in government schools.

Earlier, the head teacher of Ruyonza Seed Secondary School, Martin Mugabe, unveiled a number of challenges the school is facing to the extent of forcing it to close its A-Level section.

He, however, hailed the community for starting the school, which was later taken over by the government, adding that student enrollment has increased.
