Kyegegwa releases 2026 PLE mock results, six subcounties perform poorly

The District Inspector of Schools for Kyegegwa, Kiiza Gorden, has listed several subcounties in the district that recorded the highest number of candidates who failed the 2026 PLE mock examinations.

The subcounties include Kigambo, which recorded the highest failure rate at 54 percent in Division U, followed by Kasule and Mpara at 48 percent each, Nkanja at 43 percent, and Hapuuyo at 42 percent.

Kiiza made the remarks on September 9, 2026, during the official release of the 2026 PLE mock examination results at Humura Primary School in Kyegegwa Town Council, in a function officiated by Hon. Tuhaise Perusi, the Secretary for Education in Kyegegwa District.

The inspector also revealed the subcounties and town councils that recorded the highest number of candidates who did not turn up for the 2026 PLE mock examinations. They include Mpara Town Council with 100 learners, Migongwe with 34 learners, and Kyegegwa Subcounty with 29 learners who missed the examinations.

Kiiza challenged head teachers and teachers from the affected subcounties to step up their efforts and improve academic performance ahead of the 2026 final Primary Leaving Examinations. He urged educationists to strengthen sensitisation of parents and communities on the importance of supporting and improving the learning of pupils.

The Kyegegwa District Education Officer (DEO), Mwesige Hussein, asked parents especially day scholars, to ensure that their children are given enough time to rest, saying adequate rest is important for effective learning.

A number of school directors and head teachers, including Asiimwe Richard, Enough Arimpah, Tuhaise Martin, and Asiimwe Moses, welcomed the results and commended the education department for its efforts toward improving education standards in the district.
