Parents at Biguli Senior Secondary School in Kamwenge district have vowed to support education of their children, despite the government’s move to scrap fees imposed by Parents Teachers Association (PTA) in government aided schools.

This came during an annual general meeting held on Thursday 8 October, 2026, at the school premises in Biguli town council, which brought together parents, stakeholders, school administration, religious leaders, PTA board members, and officials from Kamwenge district local government.

Before the meeting started, parents inspected infrastructure and other equipment, such as computers, the school purchased using PTA funds to supplement government grant, for smooth running of the school activities.

Parents have anonymously expressed that they have seen the value for money they contribute as PTA fee, saying they are willing to maintain commitment to ensure that their school progresses.

In his speech to parents, Mr, Stephen Barinaitwe the district education officer (DEO) for Kamwenge, said it would be good for learning to be free in government aided schools, but only if the government grant is enough to sustain a good standard of those schools.

He thanked parents for always contributing for their children’s education, urging the school administrators to avoid harassing students whose parents have yet to pay the school requirements,
