Ven Rev Samuel Mugabe, the Archdeacon for Humura Archdeaconry Rwenzori diocese in province of the Church of Uganda (COU), has rooted for hard work among Christians saying it is the only was to accelerate progress both in Church and in communities.
Ven Mugabe was preaching during his visit at Kyeganga COU in Mpala Parish on Saturday 11 June, 2026, where Seven people were confirmed into Christianity after receiving holly sacrament of Baptism on the same day. They include Four adults who converted from different Faiths to Christianity.
The Archdeacon noted that Christians particularly in COU are more reluctant in setting household income generating activities, saying that this has not only affected growth of the Church, but also facilitated domestic violence, and hindered education among community members.
He urged that it is high time for everyone to start up a project that will foster income generation, pointing out coffee planting as the most sustainable project every Christian can afford to set up.

Ven Rev Mugabe also warned against miss use of government programs specifically Parish Development Model (PDM) that was put in place to support household income, where he discouraged a perception that PDM money is just a praise from the government.
He urged Christians to fully utilize the program and invest responsibly to uplift their income capacity, considering that the money is a low interest loan that must be payed back after a recommended period of time.

Twinomujuni said that the initiative of coffee growing will soon be instituted into Christians for the progress Church activities.
