Jinja: Man stabs girlfriend to death

Police in Kiira region is investigating circumstances under which a 28-year-old man only identified as Salim could have caused the death of his girlfriend, Mary Asio aged 25 years.

Asio, a resident of Katende, Jinja north division, Jinja city who was stabbed by the lover Salim six times outside her parents’ house on Wednesday evening but later died on Thursday from Al Shafa Modern Hospital is located in Jinja City.

ASP James Mubi, the public relations officer of Kiira Police Region said Asio was way laid from her place of work by Salim before the nasty incident.

Mubi says police findings indicate that the couple have been living separately since 2020 over issues of domestic violence and death threats.

He further urged couples to accept failed relationship encouraging them to rather support and provide for their children because failure to do so is regard as a crime

In the recently launched police annual crime report 2022, Kiira region came 25th out of the 28 policing regions with a total of 4,277 cases registered in 2022.
