Old Normal:Business resumes in Barogole after weeks of blackout

Business is back to Normal in Barogole after power distributing body UMEME restored power in the area.

For close to three weeks the community in Barogole ward in Lira City West Division were in a complete power blackout and many threatened to hold a protest

The residents claimed that the power outage had a negative setback on their business. They also claimed the blackout led to increased cases of insecurity in the area.

The affected places were kichope in Odokomit ward, Barogloe, and some part of Blue Conner, all in Lira City West Division.Mr. C P Otine, the local leader of Barogole ward told Qfm that the area has been facing power challenging for several years besides the current issue.

Several businesses in the area are forced to operate during Day time while others are prematurely closed due to power shortage in the area. Alex Ogwang a business man explained then.

However, Mr. Steven Epilu, the current Manager of UEME Lira Branch has since lived to his promise and another transformer was installed in the area.
