President Yoweri kaguta Museveni on Thursday while addressing parliament questioned why the country shouldn’t impose sanctions on western countries for marrying their relatives in what appeared to be his tactical reproach for European nations damming Uganda from rejecting same sex marriages.

In western countries they marry their cousins, but in Uganda and elsewhere in Africa it is a taboo to marry your sister from the same clan, so why don’t we now put sanctions on them for marrying their relatives? The president posed the question to members of the August how but was quick to add that it is not Uganda’s business to do so.

The president then unequivocally and without mincing words lambasted the European nations for imposing their culture on African countries by promoting homosexuality saying Africans have their own norms and traditions.

“The western countries should stop wasting the time of humanity by imposing their social practices on us. Sex is confidential, so why should the public know whether you are a homosexual or not unless you pronounce yourself,” he remarked.

Meanwhile the president’s speech largely rotated around the Parish Development Model and the social-economic transformation of the Ugandans. He says he wants to grow Uganda’s economy from the current 49b USD to USD500.

Mr. Museveni warned corrupt civil servants who have embezzled the parish development model funds that the long arm of the law will soon catch up with them citing cases in Acholi region which he recently toured.
