President Museveni has assured the community facing insecurity from the Karamojong cattle raiders that he will decisively deal with the problem

The president said he has held a meeting with army commanders on how to deal with the issue of cattle rustling by the Karamojong and added that a similar meeting will be held next week to further discuss this escalating security situation.

President Museveni, a revolutionary leader who is known for decisively combatting several insecurity situations in and outside the country has assured the country that the issue of the Karamojong catted raiders will be solved.

”There are gaps which people continue creating because they underrate the problem and yet it creates problems for our ordinary people, so I will meet them again next week again, we have all the assets to solve this problem, there is no reason why our people are supposed to be disturbed” Gen Yoweri Museveni” the commander of the armed forces assured the NRM caucus.

He also said there was laxity actors who do not exploit the security assets which ends up causing fatigue to soldiers coupled with the problem of command which he promised will be handled.

Mr. Museveni said he was also tipped that Karamojong cattle keepers throng neighboring districts in search for water for their animals’ due lack of dams and said this would be handled by his government, but he however said even if they are faced with water crisis, they should not cross other districts with guns

So the ministry of water and karamoja should bear that in mind, what happened to the dams…. that is clear, you cannot mix the issue of dams with guns, I usually see the Masai of Kenya and Tanzania, they love around but they don’t carry guns” Mr Museveni reiterated and pledged to pitch camp in Karamoja to resolve this complex security equation.

The president was on Thursday reacting to the question of the Karamojong cattle raid in Otuke, Alebtong and some districts in Acholi which was raised by Government Chief Whip Denis Hamson Obua.

Obua who is also the Ajuri county Mp in Alebtong district informed the president that his office had received concerns from area members of parliament about the Karamojong cattle rustlers in the above districts which has caused panic and insecurity in the communities.

Other districts that have raised similar complains according to Obua includes Abim, Kween and Karenga among others.

‘’The raid, the theft, the killing of civilians is on the rise, they have requested that your excellency, as commander in-chief of the armed forces, as the chairperson of the national security council, as chairperson of the Updf high command and renown revolutionary and a pacifier of the region and beyond, their humble request is that we find a decisive solution to this vice and to this challenge, a vocal and eloquent Obua told the president.

This comes on a backdrop of a botched joint Lango leaders meeting in Otuke district on Thursday where scores were arrested by the security. Among those arrested was Otuke district LCV chairperson Francis Abola.
