The territorial police command at North Kyoga region has warned criminals against taking advantage of the presence of Karamojong cattle keepers in some parts of Lango to commit crimes

The North Kyoga Regional Police spokesperson, SP Jimmy Patrick Okema says locals should desist from personal gains following the incursion of Karamojong cattle keepers. He sounded this warning while speaking to journalists during the police presser held at Lira Central Police Station on Tuesday 18th April,2023.

Okema said that amidst the Karamojong cattle raids operation, masqueraders are using this opportunity to rob the community of their cattle and other animals like goats and sheep

He says these stole animals are later sold off in markets within the region and other parts of the country for personal gains.

He cited an example of thirteen suspects who include Stephen Sebuganyi, Moses Ocoro, Daniel Aguma and Calvin Ebong among others who are under police custody for allegedly stealing cows from the locals in Otuke districts with intentions of selling them off.

Okema further said the files of the thirteen suspects have been referred to the Resident State Attorney for legal advice while the suspects are being remanded at Otuke Central Police Station waiting to be arraigned before the court of law.
