Officials from the Office of the Prime Minister visited Lango Cultural Centre on 21 August 2024 and announced plans to unveil a contractor for the construction of the Lango Cultural Palace before the end of the month.
Principal Assistant Secretary in the Office of the Prime Minister, John Baptist Ssendule, said their visit followed a letter from the undersecretary in the OPM, Dorothy Nsereko, to the Council of Owitong on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, confirming plans to unveil contractor MS CMD Investments Ltd, which will undertake the project.
John Baptist Ssendule, addressing Lira district leaders including Senior Assistant Secretary Denis Otim Otto, Resident City Commissioner Lawrence Egole, and cultural leaders, stated that they also came to identify a representative of clan heads to join the Project Management Committee.
Council of Owitong Speaker, Willy Omodo Omodo, said they appointed Eng. Richard Enen Okello, the clan head of Ngura-Puc, to this position.
Omodo Omodo said more details on the matter will be discussed at the council meeting scheduled for next Friday, where the clan heads will also pay their last respects to the Oyima Alwa clan head, Mikaya Olwe, who passed away last week.
