In a bold step toward transforming agriculture in Pader District, ECOTRUST Uganda has trained farmer leaders to champion sustainable farming and community empowerment.
Held on Friday, 28th, March 2025 at Kworo Guest House, the session provided hands-on strategies to modernize farming techniques and leverage radio as a tool for widespread agricultural education.
Farmer leader Opio Polycarp from Tenam Sub-County described the training as a breakthrough, covering critical areas such as climate change adaptation, pest management, and market dynamics. “This knowledge will revolutionize local farming practices,” he said.
ECOTRUST Pader Project Manager Boniface Okello underscored the power of Farmers Voice Radio in bridging the information gap, ensuring farmers stay updated with real-time expert insights.
Developed by the Lorna Young Foundation (LYF), Farmers Voice Radio merges indigenous wisdom with expert guidance, delivering accessible, practical solutions to farming communities.
Sheila Katushabe, ECOTRUST Uganda’s representative, emphasized the impact of empowering farmer leaders, noting, “We are cultivating a network of informed changemakers who will drive sustainable agricultural growth across Pader.”
This initiative, spanning Latanya, Tenam, and Lapul sub-counties, integrates environmental conservation with improved livelihoods, equipping communities to thrive in the face of modern agricultural challenges.
With ECOTRUST’s support, farmer leaders are now set to amplify their knowledge, ensuring a more resilient and productive agricultural future for Pader District.
