Introduction, Mission and Vision

INTRODUCTION :

KYAKA FM is a Private Radio station that was incorporated on the 18th of October 2016 and hit the airwaves on the 6th of June 2017and was officially launched the on 30th of June 2016 by Hon Janet Museveni the First Lady And Minister of Education Science, Sports and Technology.

KYAKA FM is part of Graceland rural development company. It broadcasts on 96.4Fm at its Broadcast house in Kyaka south constituency, Kamutuumi village, Kyegegwa District.

KYAKA FM was set up as a community radio station to empower the Western Uganda population, through quality programs covering sectors like; Agriculture, Poverty Eradication, Gender, Health Education, and Entertainment, etc., this makes it the only unique radio station in the region representing the common views of the community.

VISION:

To become the leading radio station in empowering and building an informed population /audience  through  the  provision  of  quality  information  in education and entertainment programs by professional media practitioners and managers to enhance social, economic, and political development

MISSION:

To take the lead in community development through quality radio programming.

TARGET AUDIENCE:

KYAKA FM’s programming embraces all age groups with programs for the youth like; Talent show, the leaders of tomorrow et cetera, and the elderly programs like talk shows, agriculture programs, Music to remember, etc.

KYAKA FM’s programs are also gender sensitive and have programs geared towards women’s emancipation.

COVERAGE:

FM transmits at 1000W and covers a radius of over 180 kilometers with the 8bay antenna system at 90 meters.

This allows KYAKA FM to broadcast in these areas Kyegegwa, Kazo, Kiruhura, Buhwezi, Buliisa, Bundibujo, Bushenyi, Hoima, Ibanda, Isingiro, Kabale, Kabalore, Kamwengye, Kanungu, Kasese, Kibaale, Kisoro, Kiryandongo, Kyenjojo, Masindi, Mbarara, Mitooma, Ntoroko, Rubirizi, Rukungiri, Sheema, Ssembabule, Mubende, Kibooga, Kagadi, Lyantonde, Kyankwanzi, Rukiga and Ntungamo. Its signal strength stretches to almost the entire Western Uganda. KYAKA FM serves about 4 million people in Western Uganda given the advantages of Kyaka II being a refugee hosting community.
