The Commissioner for the National Secretariat for Patriotism Corps (NSPC) in Uganda, Hellen Seku, has commissioned 737 patriots in Moroto District, urging them to become agents of socio-economic transformation in their communities.
The students from various secondary schools in Moroto were commissioned on Monday, 27 April 2026, at Moroto Boma Grounds after successfully completing a one-week training programme.
The training covered topics including promoting a positive mindset towards national service, discipline, responsibility, loyalty, honesty, hard work, respect for national symbols, crime detection, personal protection, and financial literacy, among others.
Addressing the patriots, Seku challenged them to adopt a positive mindset and become drivers of socio-economic transformation.
She emphasised the importance of discipline and fear of God, noting that these values would enable them to take advantage of opportunities created by government for socio-economic development.
Seku also cautioned them against HIV/AIDS, which she described as a deadly killer.
Speaking on behalf of the patriots, Abubakar Lokwang commended the Ministry of Education and Sports for extending patriotism programmes to schools in the Karamoja Sub-region, saying the initiative has equipped learners with skills and knowledge in constitutionalism, among others.
In his remarks, Mark Aol Musoka, the Assistant RDC for Moroto District, commended the patriots for their resilience during the one-week training drill and urged them to lead exemplary lives.
