A man arrested in Apac District for murdering his biological son

Police in Apac district is holding a 35-year-old man for allegedly murdering his 12-year-old son for unknown reasons

Paul Ojuka, a resident of New Barodong Cell, Barodong Ward, Arocha Division in Apac Municipality surrendered himself to Police in the wee hours of Sunday 29th Jan 2023 after committing the offence.

Ojuka is suspected to have killed his son Andrew Opio on Sunday, at around 11pm, and according to the residents the suspect caned his son severally after coming back from a drinking joint accusing the son for having failed to wash for him his clothes.

The area LC 1 chairperson of New Barodong cell Mr Egwang felix who spoke to Radio Apac confirmed the incident saying the suspect went back home late in the night and didn’t get his two kids with other family members where he started man hunting them.

Egwang said Mr Ojuka later got the children though one managed to escape, he later caned to death the 12-year-old Andrew Opio who was unable to outflow his seizure.

Unconfirmed report says Ojuka who was also drunk got irritated after realizing that the children had failed to wash for him his clothes despite giving them during the day.

The OC Apac Central Police station ASP Binggana Christopher Confirmed the arrest of Mr Ojuka saying investigations are underway.

Police Visited the crime scene and the body has been taken to Apac Hospital Mortuary for postmortem according to ASP Biggana.

 Ojuka’s case has been recorded at Apac CPS under CRB/75/2023.  According to section 189 of the Uganda penal code act, any person convicted of murder is sentenced to death.
