Friends of Goodwill gives hope to Widows in Apac District

Friends of Goodwill a non profit and a non-governmental organization with its head office in Apac district has taken a step higher in giving hopes and chances to widows who are farmers in Apac district by giving them Knapsack manual spray pumps to aid their farm mechanization.

In the event held at Friends of Goodwill offices in Apac on Friday last week, Jasper Adoko Okao, the project manager says the program falls under the project dubbed “Raising Families” with support from Friends of Goodwill Denmark through FoG Uganda.

Adoko said the beneficiaries are groups of women who were initially part of their farming programs and their major challenges were spraying equipment’s that beseeched FoG to look through and contemplate their requests.

He said the beneficiaries are from the Sub-counties of Akokoro and Ibuje in Apac district, Akere and Atik Divisions in Apac municipality which constitutes 10 groups and each was able to receive 5 Knapsack manual spray pumps to support their Agricultural Mechanization.

Ms Joys Aguti the Principal Community Development Officer Apac Municipality recognized Friends Of Goodwill for the initiative asking the beneficiaries to make the best use of the equipment’s since it will boost the level of their output.

The LC 3 Chairperson of Akere Division Mr Okech Maxwell hailed FoG for being very proactive in development and also thanked them for always changing lives of the vulnerable persons in the community where widows are unexceptional.

Mr okech however urged the community to always be in groups in a bid to tap opportunities not only from government but also non-governmental organizations like FoG.

One of the beneficiaries Imat Alice Tino expressed gratitude to Friends of Goodwill and encouraged other non-governmental organizations in Apac to always prioritize the vulnerable in various localities, she also promised to make the best use of the pumps given to them.
