Apac Assassinated Businessman to be laid to rest on Saturday

Mr. Angole Denis Apac prominent businessman was shot dead on Saturday on 11th March 2023 at around 12:15am from his home gate in Ocokcan cell, Dam ward, Akere Division, Apac Municipality.

According to the family, the burial program starts tomorrow Thursday 16th March 2023 when the deceased body will leave Lira Referral Hospital mortuary at 10am for St Thomas Church of Uganda Apac, the body will then be taken to spend a night at his home In Ocokcan cell, Akere Division Apac Municipality where friends and well wishers will pay their respects and also a night vigil.

On Friday 17th, the body will leave his home in Ocokcan for St Peters church of Uganda Apoi before reaching his ancestral home in Abolokoma cell, Apoi Sub-county, in Apac District for the burial on Saturday 18th March 2023.

The late Denis Angole 48 who was shot to death by unknown assassins’ subscribes to Okii-Okabo clan, he died leaving behind a widow and six children.

As investigations go on, The Apac District Resident District Commissioner Mr. Abdul George noted that the reason for Angole’s shooting is still unknown since the assailants did not plunder anything from him.

So far Police have arrested four suspects who have been netted in Apac municipality during the ongoing operation being conducted by the joint security taskforce to hunt for these unknown assailants who trailed and later shot dead Mr. Angole.

Preliminary report suggests that the deceased’s life could have been the target of the attackers adding that there was a scuffle before he was shot dead because his clothes were found torn.

Police annual crime report of 2022 shows that a total of 279 cases of murder by shooting was reported countrywide compared to 303 cases in 2021.
