A woman stabs spouse to death in Alebtong District over domestic brawl

The territorial police in Alebtong District are investigating a suspected murder of one Ayo James 49 years old who is alleged to have been stabbed to death by his wife over domestic brawl.

North Kyoga regional Police mouth-piece SP Patrick Jimmy Okema confirmed the incident saying the suspect one Ajok Middy aged 40 years and also a house wife to the deceased all residents of Onango cell Okwangole ward in Apala Sub-County Moroto County Alebtong District is already in the hands of Police for further investigations.

It’s alleged that the deceased have been in a long-standing domestic misunderstanding with the wife and this was evidenced in 2021 when Ajok Middy broke the left leg of the deceased over a struggle for food and the matter was resolved by the clan members.

Okema said that yesterday 22nd Feb 2023 when the deceased Mr. Ayo James went to uproot cassava for which he sought to sell but the wife was against, It prompted Ms. Ajok to carry a machete which she used for killing her husband.

Ayo who was already in the family garden which is just a stone throw distance from their home got stabbed severally from the back until death by his wife according to Police

The suspect one Ajok Middy was later hunted by the community as she tried to escape and later handed over to police.

According to the North Kyoga regional Police Spokesperson SP Patrick Jimmy Okema, crime scene have already been documented by Scene Of Crime Officers, statement recorded from relevant witness and body awaits Post mortem as proceeds.

North Kyoga region registered the highest number of cases (17,607), according to Uganda Police Annual Crime Report 2022 released yesterday Wednesday with common assault and domestic violence on the lead.
