Lango cultural foundation has rallied its subject to embrace the culture of food saving and production of perennial crops to aid fight to food security during harsh historical periods of every year.

Lango Premier engineer James Robert Ajal issued the pronouncement when contacted by Radio Apac recently.

Ajal cited two periods between March to June every year which he says are associated with starvation as a result of food scarcity especially in northern Uganda.

He therefore condemned the high level of alcoholism and domestic violence in most families on such periods particularly in Lango where he called upon most families to desist from such acts that he termed as backwardness.

Ajal also asked Lango to adopt to the production of perennial crops like Avocado, coffee, tree planting and Dairy production which last long while harvesting to reduce cases of food insecurity.

President Museveni was recently delighted to learn from Lango that they are ready to grow perennial crops but also encouraged them to take interest in fish farming that will help people eradicate poverty.

He said that the first step towards the development strategy should revolve around the intensification of commercial agriculture adding that the second step should ensure that the whole country must not depend on agriculture only but also diversify into industries, services and ICT.

Lango cultural foundation has promised to be at the forefront towards the development.
