Apac Municipal council proposes 10.7 billion shillings budget for 2023/2024 FY

Apac Municipal council has laid a draft budget of 10,741,178,000 shillings for 2023-2024 financial year, this development came up during the main council sitting held late last week.

Apac Municipality secretary for finance Mr Ambrose Opaka while reading the draft budget held at Scouts hall Apac said the budget is meant to address issues like low revenue collection, poor roads, and destruction of wetlands among others.

Mr. Opaka said, council targets to raise at least 300 million locally through Revenue Administration System in order to meet the target.

He however notes that their priorities lie on education and roads as key in the development of a Municipality like Apac with Roads & Engineering scooping Shs. 2,128,640,000, Administration Shs. 1.057,242,000.

Other sectors include Health anticipated to take Shs 1.06 billion, production Shs 79.8 Million, Community 104.7 million shillings, internal audit 41.8 million, Statutory bodies with 166 million shillings among other sectors.

The Municipal speaker Mr. Otema Ronald implored councillors to do more research and continually be very proactive in council matters in order to tap supplementary opportunities for their electorates and also the Municipality.

Mr. Otema later deffered the budget to the sectoral commitee for scrutiny and also asked the town clerk to make a follow up with the line ministry on the issue of indicative planning figure’s fund since its fluctuation is becoming a national issue

The town clerk Apac Municipal council, Mr. Stanselaos Mangasa in the same event asked the councilors to prudently scrutinize the draft budget before its approval.
