Residents of Pader District have been urged to remain at their homes as government officials continue with the ongoing documentation exercise for beneficiaries of the Parish Development Model (PDM).
Speaking from his office this morning, the Chairperson LCV Pader, Alfred Akena, said the exercise, being carried out in collaboration with the Resident District Commissioner’s (RDC) office, aims to verify and update records of all PDM beneficiaries across the district.
He noted that the process is intended to address concerns that some individuals from outside Pader may have benefited from the program, which is specifically designed for local residents.
“We want people to understand that government projects currently running will continue, and more projects are coming,” said Akena.
Residents who received PDM funds have been asked to cooperate with verification teams and provide accurate details whenever contacted.
Akena explained that the exercise is aimed at eliminating inconsistencies and ensuring that government support reaches the intended beneficiaries.
He further called for calm among residents, noting that those who have already benefited will still be considered in future government programs, while priority will be given to those who have not yet received support.
The assistant resident district commission for Pader district Mr. Pule Boniface threatened to arrest anybody extorting money from PDM beneficiaries or any other government programs because they are free.
The Parish Development Model (PDM) is a government-led initiative in Uganda aimed at transforming subsistence households into the money economy and lifting 17.5 million Ugandans in 3.5 million households out of poverty.
The PDM initiative was launched on 26 February 2022 in the eastern district of Kibuku by the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
