Newly elected leaders in Agago District have officially begun their five-year term after taking oath of office and receiving instruments needed to run district affairs during a swearing-in ceremony held today Friday, May 22nd/2026 at the district headquarters in Lokole.

The ceremony marked the formal transition into office for district leaders elected to serve from 2026 to 2031, with leaders pledging to improve service delivery and strengthen cooperation in addressing community challenges.

In his maiden speech after being sworn in, Wilson Otto, the newly elected Agago District LCV Chairperson, pledged to work with all stakeholders to improve livelihoods and deliver services to residents across the district.

Otto called for unity among political leaders, technical staff and communities, saying his administration would prioritize the needs of residents and ensure government programs benefit people at the grassroots.

The new district chairperson also emphasized accountability and collective responsibility in leadership, urging councillors and district leaders to work together for the development of Agago District.

As part of the transition, the new political leadership received office facilities, equipment and government assets intended to support their work over the next five years.

District officials said the handover included executive offices, office furniture, computers, laptops, official flags and vehicles to facilitate the smooth running of district operations.

The district chairperson’s office was allocated a pickup truck for official work, while motorcycles were assigned to some offices to ease movement and supervision of government programmes across the district.

Speaking during the handover, Patrick Olila, the Agago District Chief Administrative Officer, said the transition process was intended to ensure continuity in leadership and enable the incoming officials to immediately begin executing their responsibilities.
