The Uganda Police Force has begun deploying additional officers to sub-counties across Pader District in a move aimed at strengthening security, improving access to police services and enhancing the fight against crime.

Speaking from his office, the District Police Commander (DPC), SP Jackson Bogere, said the deployment targets sub-counties that have for years operated without an established police presence, leaving residents with limited access to law enforcement services.

According to Bogere, the deployment is intended to bring policing services closer to the people, improve crime prevention and response, and strengthen public confidence in the police.

He, however, emphasized that the success of the deployment will depend on cooperation between the police, Local Council leaders and members of the public.

Bogere called upon residents to work closely with security agencies by promptly reporting criminal activities and helping identify suspects, noting that effective policing requires active community participation.

The DPC further announced that Pader Town Council has also received additional police personnel following concerns raised by residents over insecurity within the town.

He said the reinforcement is expected to improve police visibility, enhance patrols and ensure a quicker response to criminal incidents.

Issuing a stern warning to criminals, Bogere said police operations have already intensified across the district and vowed that those involved in criminal activities would be pursued and brought to justice.

In a related development, police in Pader Town Council arrested 37 people over the weekend on allegations of public nuisance, following night operations conducted by security teams.

Bogere said the suspects are currently in police custody, adding that screening is ongoing to determine those who will be released and those who will face prosecution in court.

He further explained that the suspects will be handled on a case-by-case basis after police verification processes are completed.

Earlier, the DPC had issued an ultimatum requiring area council leaders to report to the police station together with sureties for each suspect, each carrying a National Identification Card and photocopies for verification purposes.

He said the measure was intended to strengthen accountability during the handling of suspects and ensure proper identification before release.

Bogere reaffirmed the police commitment to maintaining law and order, urging residents to cooperate with security operations to ensure continued peace and stability in the district.
