Learning at Bungatira Central Primary School in Gulu City is threatened by severe shortages of desks and toilet facilities. Headteacher Robert Anywar Kennedy has appealed to city authorities for urgent intervention, citing safety risks and difficulties affecting pupils and teachers.

Learning has been paralyzed at Bungatira Central Primary School in Gulucity following an acute shortage of desks and toilet facilities.

The crisis has left both pupils and teachers in discomfort and fear, with the school management now calling for urgent intervention.

In an interview with Speak FM on Monday 26 October 2026, the Headteacher of the school, Robert Anywar Kennedy, said the situation is dire.

Anywar, who recently assumed office, says the lack of desks has made it difficult for pupils to concentrate and write during lessons.

More worrying, according to Anywar, is that learners are sharing the only available toilet with the teaching staff, yet the facility is on the verge of collapsing, posing a serious risk to lives.

He now wants Gulu City authorities to intervene urgently before the situation worsens and disrupts learning completely.

When our news desk contacted the Gulu City Education Officer, Richard Irwenyo, for a comment, he said he was still engaged in a meeting. However, Speak FM willendeavor to get a statement from the Gulu city education office on the matter.

Despite the challenges, the school management remains hopeful that government, through the city education department, will swiftly address the matter to restore normal learning at Bungatira Central Primary School, a government-aided institution.
