St. Joseph’s College Layibi Old Boys Association has launched its third Inter-Cohort Games and Sports Gala, scheduled for 27 December 2026 in Gulu City, under the theme “Consolidating Togetherness through Sports,” promoting unity, healthy living, alumni networking, talent development, and school development.
The St. Joseph’s College Layibi College Old Boys Association (LACOBA) has officially launched the third edition of its Inter-Cohort Games and Sports Gala at Kweyo Village Shoppers in Gulu City, under the theme “Consolidating Togetherness through Sports.”
The event aims to bring together former students of St Joseph’s College Layibi across different generations, promote healthy living, strengthen friendships and mobilise resources to support the development of their former school.
Speaking at the launch, Kenneth Okot, Chairperson of the Central Executive Organising Committee (COC), emphasised the importance of unity, accountability and collective responsibility in advancing LACOBA’s mission.
Okot noted that the gala provides a valuable platform for former students to reconnect, build meaningful networks and work together towards common goals.
He also underscored the need for members to remain committed to the association’s vision and contribute to initiatives that benefit both the alumni community and the school.
Charles Okidi Kilama, Secretary for Academic, Sports and Talent Development on the 2026–2028 Central Executive Committee, outlined the key objectives of the gala.

These include expanding LACOBA’s membership, identifying and celebrating sporting talent, strengthening relationships among former students and raising the association’s public profile.
Beyond competition, the gala is intended to foster camaraderie, encourage healthy lifestyles and promote sportsmanship among participating cohorts.
According to Okidi, the gala provides former students with an opportunity to share experiences, build professional and social networks, strengthen bonds, and renew their commitment to the development of their former school.
