The Archbishop of Gulu Archdiocese, His Grace Raphael p’Mony Wokorach, has called on young people to remain committed to their education to secure a better future, cautioning against behaviors that could derail their lives.
Speaking while presiding over the celebration of the Feast of the Assumption at Awach Catholic Parish on Sunday 16 August 2026, Archbishop Wokorach confirmed over 150 youth into the Catholic faith. He reminded the newly confirmed faithful that spiritual growth must go hand-in-hand with personal development, emphasizing that staying in school is crucial for long-term success.

Addressing parents and guardians present at the event, the Archbishop urged them to make necessary sacrifices to ensure their children receive complete educational support.
He highlighted that providing essential scholastic materials and basic needs is a key safeguard against social indiscipline among youth.
During the same solemn celebration, His Grace officially installed Rev. Fr. Dr. Lawrence Komakech as the new Parish Priest of Awach Parish, charging him with the spiritual and pastoral guidance of the community.

The double celebration brought together hundreds of faithful, political, cultural and other congregations from across Awach and neighboring areas, marking a significant milestone in both pastoral leadership and spiritual growth for the parish.
