The founder and preacher of Christianity Focus Ministries, Kingdom TV, and Kingdom Radio, Dr Bishop David Livingston Kiganda, urged the congregation and the world at large to adopt a mindset of never questioning God, especially during challenging times.

He made this appeal during a special service at Christianity Focus Centre, Mengo Kisenyi LC I Kiganda Zone in Kampala, held to honour God for the life of renowned interpreter Pastor Joseph Kyeyune, who succumbed to diabetes a few days ago.

“We loved him dearly, but we are certain of where he has gone. We, therefore, have no authority to question God. He knows when He brought him and when He was to take him. Let us simply thank Him for the works He enabled him to do,” he said.

He went on to share how, in his youth, he was perplexed by a verse in Revelation 14:14:

“Then I heard a voice from heaven saying, ‘Write this: Blessed are those who from now die in the service of the Lord!’ ‘Yes indeed!’ answers the Spirit. ‘They will enjoy rest from their hard work because the results of their service go with them.’”

“I used to wonder how the dead could be blessed when they were no longer alive—until I read John 11:25, where Jesus says, ‘I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies.’ That is when I realised that when we lose those who died in Christ, there is hope of seeing them again.

I urge you to reflect on where you will be when your time comes. Kyeyune was my interpreter for a very long time, and I encourage his family—especially his parents and children—that God will guide us through this difficult moment,” he concluded.

Ms Immaculate, speaking on behalf of her fellow interpreters, shared with the congregation how prayerful, loving, and caring their team leader had been.

Dr. Bishop. David Livingston Kiganda.

According to Pastor Cindy Kiganda, wife of Bishop Kiganda, Kyeyune was a truly committed servant of God.

“Whenever I went out to preach, Pastor Kyeyune would ask who was accompanying me to interpret. Sometimes, even when he was not at church, he would call me and say, ‘Mummy, let me get a boda boda and come.

Many years ago, when I discovered he had diabetes, I reached out to him and started monitoring his diet. At times, he would even hide from me because he knew there were certain foods I didn’t want him to eat for the sake of his health.

My recent conversation with him in hospital proved to me that he was a man of faith—he remained very optimistic that he would return home.

When I first joined this church, I wasn’t used to having an interpreter, as I had previously preached without one. I spoke very fast, but he always did his best to keep up with me.

We loved him dearly, but God loved him more,” she elaborated.

Precious Nakyeyune, speaking on behalf of her siblings, thanked God for blessing them with a truly caring father and mentor.

“Our father loved us so much. He fulfilled his role as a father. Thank you, Daddy, for loving us dearly,” she said.

Sarah Ssenyonga, the late Pastor Kyeyune’s mother, joined others in expressing gratitude to God for her son’s life, despite acknowledging that he passed away in pain.

“Joseph died in pain, but as I was crying, the Holy Spirit spoke to me, saying, ‘It is true that Joseph has died in pain, just as Jesus did.’ That gave me strength, and now I am certain he is in a better place.

I want to thank this church for everything you have done for our son. Indeed, Joseph belonged to you,” she said.

He passed away at the age of 45. While growing up, he would often ask his father about the heavenly seats, a memory confirmed by his father, Mr Ssenyonga.

Kyeyune will be laid to rest today in Kalisizo district.
