The 4th edition of Uganda’s largest pharmaceutical and healthcare international exhibition will take place from 13th to 15th February 2025 at the Lugogo UMA Show Grounds in Kampala. Speaking to journalists at the Uganda Media Centre, the Acting Commissioner of Quality Assurance in the Ministry of Health, Ms Akello Harriet, confirmed that the Ministry of Health will continue supporting this exhibition to ensure that Ugandans and others can benefit from it. “I want to thank the exhibitors who will be showcasing their products. I therefore call upon everyone to make sure they attend the event for various health services,” Akello said.

The Ministry of Health Spokesperson, Mr Emmanuel Ainebyona, emphasised that over 120 exhibitors from several countries have already confirmed their participation, including Uganda, Egypt, Kenya, India, and others. He also appealed to the media to assist the Ministry in verifying false information. “A number of online websites, often run by faceless characters, use this opportunity to mislead the public. So, I wish to caution that they are spreading false information. We will work with the Uganda Communications Commission if this continues, and these websites will ultimately be blocked,” he said.

Ainebyona has urged the general public to report to nearby healthcare facilities if any Ebola symptoms appear. “If you have any symptoms consistent with Ebola, including fever, bleeding from various body openings, etc., I appeal to you to report to the nearest healthcare facility if you encounter someone with such symptoms,” Ainebyona said. The health minister, Dr Jane Ruth Aceng, is expected to open the upcoming exhibition.

According to the Publicity Secretary of the Uganda Dental Association, Dr Nakyonyi Maria Goreti, the association will fully participate. “As the Uganda Dental Association, we are a non-governmental body, and our role is to promote comprehensive healthcare across Uganda. This is an opportunity for us to engage with the pharmaceutical healthcare sector to deliver services for free. From 13th to 15th February, we aim to promote holistic healthcare by providing oral health education and free consultations. We encourage all Ugandans to be part of this,” she said.

Mr Salik Qamar, the General Manager of Exhibition and Trade from India, confirmed their participation. “I want to take this opportunity to thank the other exhibitors who have decided to join. This will provide an opportunity to explore and engage with new products and technologies in the sector. I therefore request the public to be part of this,” Qamar said.
