Hajjat Sharifa Buzeki was sworn in today as the new Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) Executive Director during a ceremony at City Hall in Kampala.
Ms. Buzeki is the third Executive Director to lead the technical wing of KCCA since the KCCA Act was passed in 2010. In her address during the ceremony, she warned KCCA staff against laziness, emphasising that achieving the city’s development objectives requires teamwork and commitment.
In the same meeting, she announced plans to fast-track the acquisition of land for a state-of-the-art waste processing facility.
Meanwhile, the city’s mayor, Mr. Erias Lukwago, advised the new Executive Director to take time to understand the workings of the authority to excel in her duties.
Earlier, Ms. Buzeki pledged to transform Kampala into a modern city by emphasising collaboration and efficiency. She outlined her focus on unlocking the city’s potential and addressing longstanding challenges such as waste management and corruption, which have plagued the city.
“Kampala has immense untapped potential, and my focus will be on ensuring that every effort contributes to improving the lives of its residents,” she said.
