Museveni’s daughter consecrated Bishop as Uganda nears first oil production

President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have joined Christian leaders for the consecration of their daughter, Pastor Patience Rwabwogo, as an Episcopal Bishop.

The consecration took place at Covenant Nations Church, the ministry founded by Pastor Rwabwogo two decades ago. Evangelist Bishop Dr. LaDonna Osborn presided over the ceremony.

Patience Rwabwogo’s elevation to the episcopal office marks a major milestone in her Christian ministry, following 20 years of leading missions and church activities across Uganda.

In his address, President Museveni congratulated his daughter, describing her elevation as a significant achievement and noting that she is the first bishop in the family.

Several Christian leaders attended the ceremony and prayed for the newly consecrated Bishop, asking God to protect her and continue using her mightily in ministry.

The First Lady, Janet Museveni, also prayed for Patience and thanked God for how far He has brought her in her ministry.

Meanwhile, Uganda has moved closer to commercial oil production, with the East African Crude Oil Pipeline, EACOP, now 92 percent complete and on track to receive its first crude oil before the end of 2026.

The progress was reported during a two-day inspection of oil projects in the Albertine Graben by the Petroleum Authority of Uganda Executive Director, Ernest Rubondo, on August 22nd, 2026.

EACOP will transport crude oil from the Tilenga and Kingfisher projects in Hoima to the port of Tanga in Tanzania.

The two projects are expected to produce up to 230,000 barrels of oil per day at peak production.

Meanwhile, the Kabalega Sub-Power Station is expected to begin supplying electricity to EACOP facilities by October.
