As Christians prepare to celebrate Christmas, the Deputy Resident District Commissioner (RDC) for Wakiso District in charge of Nansana Municipality, Charles Lwanga, has cautioned Ugandans, particularly residents of Nansana Municipality, to embrace community policing to curb festive season crimes.
Speaking on Tiger FM’s security talk show this evening, RDC Charles Lwanga, alongside the District Police Commander (DPC) for Nansana Police Division, Apollo Tayebwa, urged residents to collaborate with security operatives in fighting crime. He encouraged them to report any security threats immediately to the authorities for prompt assistance.
The RDC also advised youths to participate in government programs such as Emyooga, the Parish Development Model (PDM), and GROW, among others, to promote wealth creation. He further urged them to avoid activities that could ruin their lives, such as drug abuse and criminal behavior.
The DPC emphasised the importance of proper home security, urging residents to ensure their homes are securely locked, remain vigilant for suspicious activities around their premises, and take necessary precautions. He also warned drivers against reckless driving, noting that reports from previous festive seasons have highlighted a rise in accidents that have claimed numerous lives.
