The Executive Director of the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC), Francis Peter Ojede, has called on Ugandans to attend the forthcoming 7th Art and Culture Festival scheduled for November 6 and 7, 2026, at the National Theatre in Kampala.
The festival will run under the theme, “Culture, Sustainable Development: Leveraging Technology and Innovation,” highlighting the role of culture in promoting sustainable development through technology and innovation.
Ojede made the remarks during a press conference held at the National Theatre in Kampala, where he said the two-day event would feature various educational activities aimed at helping participants learn more about art and culture.
“I want to call upon the public to come and join us as we celebrate this culture of its kind,” Ojede said.
Nabasumba Rahma, Miss Tourism Buganda representing Busiro County and the Nte clan, also attended the press conference and commended UNCC for organising what she described as an educational festival.
She encouraged young people and the general public to attend, saying the event would provide an opportunity to learn more about their cultural heritage and its importance in shaping their identity.
“I thank UNCC for this. I urge, especially my fellow youths, to come on November 6 and 7. Our culture is who we are. We go anywhere without knowing where we come from as humans,” she said.
Meanwhile, various partners at the press conference pledged continued support for cultural initiatives, emphasising the importance of preserving and promoting Uganda’s cultural heritage.
The festival is expected to bring together cultural practitioners, artists, young people and other members of the public to celebrate culture and explore its contribution to sustainable development.
