Following the tragic incident that occurred this week at a community childhood day care centre in Ggaba, the Minister of State for Higher Education, Hon. John Chrysestom Muyingo, has visited the facility and issued directives on behalf of government.
The Minister conveyed government’s condolences to the school leadership and the parents who lost their four children in the attack. He directed the school administration to compile a comprehensive report detailing exactly what transpired.
He further stated that government will conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and will inform the country upon its conclusion.
Government has also ordered the immediate closure of the school, urging parents to pick their children. The facility will remain closed until investigations are complete.
According to preliminary findings, the suspect, believed to be a resident of the area, gained access to the school premises by posing as a parent seeking to enroll a child before carrying out the attack.
While addressing the media, the head of the institution, Sewava Jacqueline, said the community is deeply shaken.
“As a church, we are grieving the loss of our four children. This has never happened in this community. The man came seeking help, pretending he had a child to enroll. He paid the required fees, then accessed where the children were and attacked them,” she explained.
Meanwhile, as the Easter holiday approaches, motorists have been urged to exercise caution while traveling.
Muyanja Vincent, director of Bamuyanja Auto Garage and a senior mechanic specializing in brake maintenance, has advised drivers to remain patient, observe traffic rules, and ensure their vehicles are in proper mechanical condition.
“Many people will be traveling to villages and other destinations. Drivers should remember that not everyone on the road is experienced. Patience is key, and vehicles must be in good condition,” he said, before wishing the public a safe and happy Easter weekend.
