The Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for the 2027 CAF tournament, to be jointly hosted by Uganda, Kenya, and Tanzania, has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering a successful competition.
Speaking to journalists after a closed two-day workshop, representatives from the three countries confirmed their readiness to provide all necessary support to ensure the tournament’s success.
On behalf of Uganda, Hon. Peter Ogwang, who represented the government, said the country will fulfill its commitments. He noted that the Government of Uganda has pledged UGX 130.4 billion for infrastructure development, including training facilities at Kyambogo, Lira University, Masindi, and FUFA Technical Centre Njeru, among others.
Meanwhile, Samson Adamu, the Acting General Secretary of Confederation of African Football (CAF), expressed optimism that the three nations will achieve their goal of hosting a successful tournament.
Regarding infrastructure preparedness, each country outlined progress in the construction, rehabilitation, and modernization of key facilities. The three nations also reaffirmed their efforts in improving airports, accommodation, and other related infrastructure. “The Ministers reiterated the governments’ commitment to ensure all facilities meet the required CAF standards,” the statement noted.
The CAF Acting General Secretary commended the host nations for their progress, while the countries expressed appreciation to the CAF team for its continued support, led by Patrice Motsepe of South Africa. The PAMOJA initiative further emphasized unity and collaboration in delivering a memorable tournament.
Also present were Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary, Salim Mvurya, and Tanzania’s representative, Paul Makonda.
