Ndejje University yesterday sent off 1067 students to go and change the world positively having completed their studies in various categories at the university main campus in Ndejje, Luweero district. In her statement, the vice Chancellor, Rev. Canon Assoc. Prof. Olivia Nassaka Bbanja told students who graduated to express integrity in whatever they do. ” As a Christian (Anglican) University, we are committed to execute the mandate given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ not only bearing fruit but fruit that abide. We are to bear good fruits through the produce we nurture and our services to the students, community and wider society.” She explained.
The Vice Chancellor continued to elaborate on the performance of class of 2024. “Today 1067 students are graduating. 433 (40.6%) are female and 634 (59.4%) are male. 44 of these obtained first class degrees, (23 females and 21 males) Ms Naggita Brenda, Bachelor of Business and Administration (Accounting and Finance) is the overall best student. She scored a GPA of 4.79. The best male Student is Mr Esanga Moses, Bachelor of Education. He scored a GPA of 4.60. Of the 44 first class degrees, 4 students are from the faculty of engineering. We celebrate with you upon this achievement” she explained.
In conclusion the Vice Chancellor urged government to continue supporting private institutions of learning in any way possible since the load is overwhelming though for Ndejje, by God’s grace they have managed to overcome the challenges they face like any other University. “We expect our Graduands to be ready to serve and work to transform the world as they faithfully bear fruit to the glory of God” she said.
The chief guest, Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Hon. Monica Musenero congratulated the students and thanked the parents for playing their roles well. “Uganda has had over the years products/graduates and of these caliber that have been commended is that of those who positively impacted others. Being known for their products/fruits, with the current wave in science, the country badly needs people who are going to bear fruits that abide. I therefore urge you to go and bear fruits that abide using your skills.” She said.
The minister also said that individuals that have everlasting value can therefore have the zeal to do things in a new way aided by science and technology in order to produce fruits of high quality but at a cheap cost, efficiently produced with a long self-life and also can help solve problems of the community and skills can be further transferred to positivity. “I am happy to hear that students of Ndejje University are inclined to bearing fruits and carrying out innovations which are aimed at impacting society and promoting solutions to present and future community challenges.” she said.
According to the Dean, faculty of engineering, Ndejje University is known for giving holistic Christian ethics alongside the professional knowledge that they instill in the students. “As of now, we have one of the best undergraduate classes in engineering. The zeal of this university is to promote technology, science and engineering, and the sky is the limit.” he said. The head of research and innovation in the same faculty, Mr Bwambale Royce, congratulated their students for performing very well despite of the challenges they have been facing. “Am happy that we managed to produce about 45 innovators who managed to convert plastics in to fuel that can drive vehicles.” he said.
Bishop of Mukono Diocese, Enos Kagodo, asked graduates to be faithful in what they do and continue trusting God.
The theme for the 26th graduation was from the book of John 15:16 which says ” You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit. Fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.”
