Kampala Lord Mayor Eng Ronald Nsubuga Balimwezo has vowed to intensify efforts to recover KCCA school land allegedly grabbed or encroached on by individuals.
Balimwezo urged people occupying school land to vacate it and allow the land to continue serving its intended purpose of supporting education and learners.
The Lord Mayor made the remarks yesterday while flagging off KCCA schools travelling to Mubende to participate in a schools competition.
He said school land is a valuable public asset that must be protected for the benefit of current and future generations.
Balimwezo warned that city authorities would not sit back and watch public school land being taken by individuals.
“School land belongs to the people, and we must protect it. Those who have taken or encroached on KCCA school land should return it,” Balimwezo said.
He also urged KCCA schools to remain focused on academic excellence, sports and other activities that promote talent, discipline and teamwork among learners.
The flag-off was part of efforts by KCCA to support schools and encourage learners to participate in competitions that contribute to their overall development.
