The Government of Uganda has been encouraging citizens to embrace technology and electronics by engaging in related work and enrolling in courses aligned with the sector. Through the Ministry of Education and Sports, the government introduced Technical and Vocational Education and Training and vocational programmes aimed at equipping learners with practical skills for the modern job market.

It is against this background that the Director of United Engineers Traders Association, Engineer Moses Ssebiranda, while speaking to journalists yesterday at their workshop in Kampala, called on government and other policymakers to invest more in technology and electronics education.

He commended efforts to introduce electric vehicles and motorcycles in the country, noting that they contribute to environmental protection and help reduce emissions related diseases, particularly in Kampala and the metropolitan area. He said this would ultimately improve public health and increase life expectancy.

He also appealed to government institutions, private sector partners, and organisations such as the Private Sector Foundation Uganda to support initiatives that create opportunities for people interested in learning about electric engines and modern automotive technologies.

He announced plans to host weekly hands on training sessions led by various experts in vehicle electrical services, aimed at educating the public free of charge. He encouraged students and individuals already involved in technical and electric vehicle services to take advantage of the programme.

He further noted that experienced electrical engineers who can offer free training are often limited due to their busy schedules, despite being highly skilled professionals.

In a separate appeal, the Director of Ba Muyanja J Auto Garage, Julius Muyanja, called on security agencies investigating alleged corruption cases involving former Speaker Anita Among to extend their investigations to other government officials allegedly implicated in corruption and embezzlement of public funds.

He commended ongoing investigations but emphasised the need for fairness and broader accountability, stating that all individuals mentioned in corruption-related allegations should be investigated without selective focus.
