In an effort to create cleaner, safer, and more organized spaces for business communities in Uganda, MTN Mobile Money Uganda Limited (MTN MoMo), in partnership with the Kampala Capital City Authority, transport leadership, and local market authorities, today launched a major urban transformation initiative involving the rebranding, cleaning, and revitalisation of Busega Market and five of Kampala’s busiest transport parks.

The exercise commenced with an early morning clean-up at Busega Market, bringing together MTN MoMo staff, KCCA officials, market leaders, drivers, conductors, and community members.

According to MTN MoMo officials, the partnership extends beyond Busega Market to include Busega Park, Kisenyi Park, Kalerwe Park, Namayiba Park, and Nateete Park, locations that serve as the heartbeat of Kampala’s daily economic activity.

Speaking during the launch, Carolyn Nabunya, MTN MoMo’s Senior Manager for Commercial Operations, said the initiative reflects the company’s belief that thriving businesses require thriving environments.

“At MTN MoMo, we understand that markets and transport hubs are the engines of Uganda’s economy. They are where businesses grow and livelihoods connect. Our partnership with KCCA is about creating cleaner, safer, and more organised spaces that empower traders, transport operators, and customers alike. As we continue to provide reliable and accessible financial services, we are equally committed to supporting the physical environments where commerce happens every day,” she said.

Meanwhile, Adam Waiswa, the Market Master, welcomed the partnership and commended MTN MoMo for taking an active role in supporting the city’s development agenda.

“Clean and well-maintained public spaces are essential to economic growth, public health, and community pride. We applaud MTN MoMo for demonstrating responsible corporate citizenship through this partnership. Together, we are improving key commercial and transport hubs while creating an environment where businesses and communities can thrive,” he said.

MTN MoMo noted that it will continue encouraging traders, transport operators, and customers to embrace digital payment solutions that are safer, more convenient, and more efficient.

Traders who attended the launch appreciated MTN MoMo for consistently supporting ordinary Ugandans and helping create environments that enable them to earn a living and grow their businesses.
