Nansana house fire leaves three dead, police investigate

Residents of Nansana West A village are in shock after a landlady allegedly set fire to the house where she lived with her tenants, reportedly killing herself and two tenants. The incident happened at around 1:00 a.m. last night.

We spoke to one of the tenants in the house, identified as Jamiru, who explained what happened when the fire broke out. He said the owner of the houses had been experiencing some challenges and would sometimes talk to herself.

The Nansana Municipality Resident District Commissioner, Charles Lwanga, who visited the scene, condemned the act of suicide and urged people facing different challenges to seek advice from others who can guide them. He also called on residents to strengthen community relationships.

Meanwhile, the Nansana Division Mayor, Sam Mugabi Bukenya, also condemned the increasing cases of suicide resulting from stress and other challenges. He called on residents to always look out for one another and report people who may need help to the relevant authorities so that they can receive the necessary support.
