The Operational Manager of Tausi Bus Company, Juma Mugolozi, has assured passengers that the company will not increase fares unless it becomes necessary, despite the rising fuel prices.
Mugolozi said the company remains committed to maintaining affordable transport fares, particularly for passengers travelling along the western route.
He made the remarks while addressing journalists at the company’s bus park in Kampala.
He thanked passengers for continuing to use Tausi Bus services, saying their support has helped the company remain in business despite the challenges in the transport sector.
Mugolozi announced that the current fares are UGX 25,000 from Kampala to Masaka, UGX 30,000 to Mbarara and UGX 35,000 to Ishaka.
He said the prices are official and that the company would use the media to communicate any changes that may arise due to fuel price increases.
On passenger safety, Mugolozi said the company regularly takes its buses for maintenance to ensure they are in good mechanical condition.
He noted that poor mechanical conditions are among the major factors that contribute to road accidents, adding that the company prioritises the safety of its passengers.
Mugolozi also said Tausi Bus has improved passenger comfort by installing television screens, functional Wi-Fi and comfortable seats.
He urged passengers to continue supporting the company, promising further improvements to its services.
