The administration, parents and learners of Hill Preparatory School in Naguru, Kampala, have dedicated this year’s Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) candidates in prayer ahead of the national examinations.
The examinations are scheduled to begin next week, with candidates expected to receive a briefing on Friday from the headteacher or another authorised person.
In his sermon, the school chaplain, Rev. Father Raymond Balikuddembe, urged candidates to overcome fear and build confidence as they prepare for their examinations.
“At times, we get scared because we lack confidence. The only thing you can give to your parents is by passing well. This is the class I have started with as a chaplain, and my prayer is that you perform well. Just be confident,” he said.
Father Balikuddembe warned that panic during examinations could affect candidates’ performance, urging them to trust in God and remain confident. He also encouraged learners to share their talents with others and called on parents to continue praying for and encouraging their children.
He noted that some candidates had expressed fear ahead of the examinations but said prayers had been offered to God for their success.
Speaking on behalf of the school, teacher Tukahirwa Koreter said the candidates had been adequately prepared for the examinations, adding that their preparation began when they joined the school.
“I am confident that they are going to perform well because we have prepared them very well,” she said.
Koreter also encouraged parents of children with special educational needs to enrol them at the school, saying the institution provides special attention to such learners.
“This school has special treatment for learners with special needs, so I call upon parents with such learners to entrust them to us because they learn so many things. Even those without special needs are very welcome,” she added.
The candidates thanked God for bringing them this far in their education and pledged to work hard and make their parents proud.
